Backup PS3 Games Within Minutes
Learning how to backup PS3 games is something that all Playstation users should know about, especially when there is no console hardware modification required.
For years, Sony has prevented gamers from backing up and copying their games by means of strong security features within their game discs. The good news is that now there is a range of software that you install onto your PC or Mac, that will rip the content from a PS3 disc.
From there, you can then use your own burning software on your computer to make a backup copy.
Burning Copies
The issues many people encounter here is that PS3 games are Blu-ray discs and as such, you need a Blu-ray burner to create copies.
Now, when you look at the costs of PS3 games, making the investment in the software and an external/internal Blu-ray burner, is not such a bad idea.
But not to worry: You can also simply store the game backup on an external hard drive and run the games straight from there into the PS3 unit. This requires a simple preparation technique called a “softmod” and is well worth the effort. Imagine having all your PS3 games stored on a single hard drive!
The modding procedure does not mean you open your PS3. It is a simple process that involves installing a few files to the PS3. Any good software (which we will elaborate on below) will come with detailed instructions on how to do this.
The Best PS3 Game Backup Software
As we touched on briefly, there are many programs that can now make copies of games for specific consoles. With this in mind, there are a select few that can do all consoles and are a lot easier to use than others.
For these reasons, we strongly suggest that you utilize one of the two programs as explained below:

This newly established player is making a big name for itself fast in the game copy software industry.
Aside from the lack of free games and movies, it has all the great features that GCP has and perhaps an even better (arguably) support department, just in case you get stuck with any of the procedures.
Have a look at both websites and make a decision for yourself. No matter which one you choose, you are sure to be very happy with the results of either of these programs.
Features of this software:
- Hottest new game copy software
- Get it immediately as a download
- Excellent support and instructions
- Backs up a variety of popular discs
- Creates excellent quality direct backups

Reasons For Creating Backups
All those free games from the members area of Easy Backup Wizard, not to mention those that Sony have for legal download, are hard to pass up.
Imagine seeing your disc library, or your new game storage hard drive, expanding rapidly, thanks to the new backup software.
We know how devastating it can be when your expensive games fail to function, or you lose them mysteriously. It is impossible to remove scratches and small damage without making the situation worse, so the only option is to copy the game and re-burn it.
Looking at the cost of PS3 games VS the onetime price of professional backup software, thousands of gamers from all over the globe have started to make the investment in back-up software.

2011 is without a doubt the year of the superheroes. We’ve seen countless movie and video game releases that have breathed life into these long forgotten heroes. From Thor, to Captain America, 2011 has seen them all! I think it’s safe to say that Batman: Arkham City is by far the most successful superhero video game to date, so will Spider-Man: Edge of Time really make a name for itself? Or will it live in the shadow of the Dark Knight?
How it Unfolds:
Spider-Man: Edge of Time tells the story of our beloved hero’s death by a creature known as Anti Venom. Fortunately in the year 2099, another Spider-Man exists and makes it his mission to set things right and save Peter Parker from what seems like an inevitable fate. Sadly, things aren’t so simple since Peter Parker disregards anything future Spider-Man says and chooses to hunt down Anti Venom and reason with him. Things are made worse by a mysterious scientist controlling Anti Venom and changing instances in time to ultimately create the future he desires. Controlling both Amazing Spider-Man and 2099 Spider-Man, you must face off against some familiar and unfamiliar enemies and relentlessly try to save Peter Parkers life.
True Action:
The attraction to this game is the fact that you get to hop between two different time periods and control both 2099 and Amazing Spider-Man. Each character has their own strong and weak points, as well as specific upgrades tailored to each individual. 2099 Spider-Man can temporarily be in two places at once since he’s so fast, whilst Amazing Spider-Man can accelerate his speed and run through laser beams. Of course each Spider-Man can also climb walls, but unfortunately that’s when the insanely bad camera angles kick in.
At first the game feels adventurous and fun, but the terrible control system in conjunction with the repetitive gameplay soon leads to a headache and your console frequently being turned off. Too many times will you have to collect three keys to open a door, skydive through tunnels or hit a switch to open yet another locked door. The game is laborious and only the strong willed will play through hard mode upon unlocking it.
Nitty Gritty:
Aside from a monotonous ‘web of challenges’ which you can choose to complete, the game doesn’t really offer that much in terms of extra features. Yes, there is the opportunity to unlock character models of the in-game cast, along with Daily Bugle newspaper articles, but these aren’t features which will really bring you any sort of joy.
Visuals:
Spider-Man: Edge of Time doesn’t exactly push your PS3 to its limits. Though the graphics are smooth, they still feel somewhat outdated by the standards of today. This is made worse by the numerous texture popping moments and strange bugs that plague the game. The cut-scenes do beef the game up considerably, but unfortunately they are few and far between.
Audio:
Conversation throughout the game is a little on the tedious side. The constant humour that runs dry, combined with the ridiculous quotes that get used over and over again, is enough to have you reaching for the remote and hitting that mute button way too often. On the other hand, the music is absolutely brilliant and at times it can easily add a sense of urgency to a life threatening situation.
In the End:
Spider-Man: Edge of Time is a light hearted game that shouldn’t be taken too seriously. It’s an easy first time play-through, but there are far too many glitches, awful camera angles and mind numbing conversational moments for you to stomach a second or even third run through it. All-in-all, Spider-Man: Edge of Time seems to have edged out of its time and is probably a game more suited to a PS2 title rather than a next generation console.
Read MoreAssassins Creed: Revelations – One of 2011...
Towards the end of 2011 has seen some of the most anticipated titles of the year, but none more so than Assassins Creed: Revelations. It’s easy to see why when you cast your mind back to how spectacular other games in the series were, not to mention the incredible cliffhanger we were left with at the end of Assassins Creed: Brotherhood! So, was Assassins Creed: Revelations really worth the wait?
Story
The game takes off from the cliffhanger left by Brotherhood and sees Desmond Miles trapped inside the Animus. Here he meets the infamous Subject 16 who advises him to play out the remaining ancestor memories in order to separate himself from their memories and awake from his coma. Once again you’ll primarily take on the role of Ezio who tries desperately to find the hidden keys needed to open Altair’s seal. It becomes a race against time since the Templars are also after Altair’s secrets. Without giving too much away – it’s an absolutely brilliant story that will have you gasping for breath the entire time.
Gameplay
Much like other games in the series, the gameplay gradually improves with each title and things have come a long way since the first game. Climbing buildings is made a whole lot easier and faster with the hook blade and guards are more lethal now that they are equipped with guns. Of course the usual stealthy elements that make Assassins Creed such a champion franchise still exist, but there are some nice little additions such as parachuting and bomb crafting, which take the game to a whole new level and make it so much more fun to play. Interactive cutscenes and exploring additional memory sequences with Desmond also add a dash of flavour to the game and make it an incredibly enjoyable experience to play.
The main attraction to Assassins Creed: Revelations was the fact that you once again get to walk in the shoes of everyone’s favourite, arrogant and cold blooded assassin, Altair. You re-live a memory of Altair each time you obtain one of the Masayaf keys, giving you something else to look forward to as you progress through the game.
Features
A lot more emphasis has been put into the multiplayer this time around and as you level up you will climb the Abstergo ladder and discover more information about this Templar company. Multiplayer will now require a uPlay passport and features new and exciting game modes, such as a capture the flag styled mode which has you individually or as a team fighting to steal an artifact. Deathmatches have also returned, but for some reason the developers haven’t implemented the compass that allows you to hunt down your enemies. This in-turn requires more patience and skill since all enemies look the same, so you have to wait for something out of the ordinary to happen. This is of course debatable as to whether or not it’s a hindrance, but personally I think it gives the game more of a challenge.
Graphics
The graphics are as brilliant as the predecessors and although there are a few minor AI glitches from time to time, you can’t help but become immersed in the games setting just by the gorgeous designs and texturing. Character facial movements and mannerisms also help beef the game up and provide you with a longing for more dialogue.
Sound
The Assassin’s Creed franchise is renowned for its unique and beautiful soundtrack and Revelations is no different. The orchestral music fits well within the game and never seems to feel out of place.
Voice acting is brilliant as always, apart from one teeny tiny gripe – Altair! Remember that cool, cocky, yet always a pleasure to listen to voice from the first game? Well, it’s gone and instead we’re given a voice that you couldn’t really tell apart from anyone else in the game. This was of course disappointing to say the least, but definitely no hindrance to the game itself. Subject 16 is also lacking the voice talents of Cam Clarke (voice actor for Metal Gear Solid’s Liquid Snake), and seems to have been replaced with an average Joe actor – sigh.
Downsides
Aside from the replaced voice actors and the occasional idiot guard that attacks nothing, Assassins Creed: Revelations is a solid game that can barely be improved.
Overall
Assassins Creed: Revelations is a fantastic game that doesn’t disappoint. The compelling story will keep you on your toes and as always, it has an ending you won’t want to miss! Multiplayer has expanded, taking control of Desmond is optional and there are so many new gameplay features that you can’t help but have a brilliant time as you play through one of the best games of 2011!
Read MoreRatchet and Clank: All 4 One – Review
When it comes to whimsically charming platformers, they really don’t get any better than the Ratchet and Clank franchise! Since making its first release in 2002, Ratchet and Clank have evolved the world of platform games and are forever providing innovative ideas to create wonderful games for all to enjoy. With 8 fantastic games under their belt already, surely Ratchet and Clank All 4 One is set to be a success right?
The story follows on from Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time and sees the ever so wonderful duo accompanied by Captain Qwark and the evil genius Nefarious. Their quest is to journey back home after Nefarious’ apparently failsafe plan to get rid of Ratchet and Clank once and for all backfires and sends all four characters to another universe. Together the unlikely group travel through hell and back to make it back home in one piece. Overall it’s pretty much your typical Ratchet and Clank story and never really becomes too serious or engrossing.
This game is primarily designed to go through it co-operatively and playing it individually on offline mode is lack-luster compared to the previous awesome titles we’re used to. With that being said, co-op didn’t fair as well as we all hoped it would. The constant zoomed out, fixed angle perspective takes away the element of surprise and forced lock-on aiming is quite the nightmare. Of course it’s not all bad and the fantastic puzzles that force you to work as a team really livens the game up. Thrilling vehicle sections also help with keeping the game from becoming too stale and repetitive.
Colorful Visuals
The game is full of colourful visuals that ooze Ratchet and Clank. Sure, the graphics don’t exactly push the PS3 to its limits, but they’re definitely pretty to look at. There are occasionally a few graphical glitches, such as enemies shooting at nothing, but these are very rare moments. Surprisingly frame rate managed to stay on top of its game, despite the fact that four people are firing weapons like mad and collecting nuts and bolts all at the same time. All in all the graphics are fairly impressive and definitely boost the games overall score.
The dialogue is pretty much what you’d expect from a game designed for years 10+ and the constant bickering between Nefarious and Qwark can become a little tedious. Not to mention the fact that edgy humor we’re used to has been completely eradicated and we’re now left with stale jokes designed for 12 year olds. The music has that Sci-Fi space feel to it and is really fitting with the games theme.
Your right stick now toggles through your weapons, which in essence means you don’t have full control of where you aim. Instead you’re just left with this ridiculous automatic lock-on which doesn’t let you choose which enemy you want to fire at. You basically have to face in a particular direction and pray for the best. This is not only annoying but it takes all of the enjoyment out of the shooting we have all grown to love in these games.
Our Final Thought:
Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One is definitely not the best in the series but is still worthy of a play-through. The drop in and drop out co-op beefs the game up whilst the lock-on shooting lowers the fun. Whilst All 4 One is extremely fun to play, the game will be a disappointment to most die-hard Ratchet and Clank fans and it won’t be long before it gathers dust on your shelf.

Read MoreTop 5 PS3 games of 2011
2011 is coming to an end and by Jove what a year it has been! We’ve had some brilliant PS3 titles hit our shelves and make last years games look inferior in almost every way. Many have been collecting stacks of dics as they learn to backup ps3 games, however, the time has come to limit your library and get out there to buy the top 5, in original boxes. In honor of the year coming to an end it is time to countdown the greatest games to grace our beautiful next generation entertainment system;
#5 – Rage
Imagine Fallout mated with Borderlands and produced a first person shooter in the style of a Fallout RPG. Well, that’s basically what Rage was and believe me when I say it was fun! Stuck in a wasteland after years of living in shelter, you get to explore a world filled with bandits and slums. Sure, it sounds like your typical Fallout game, but gameplay is far superior and you can even drive cars equipped with machine guns! This giant game was packed full of quests and awesome little events such as a battle arena. If Rage failed to blow you away, then God help you.
#4 – Killzone 3
As if Killzone 2 wasn’t good enough, Killzone 3 came on to the scene and blew us back with brilliant visuals, explosive warzones and fantastic environments. One minute you’re fighting in an arctic wasteland and the next you’re stealthily killing enemies inside a jungle. It’s a brilliant game with a bloodthirsty melee system and plenty of on-rails moments. Sure, the story is a little lacking and the voice acting is grating at times, but Killzone 3 is clearly one of the best titles on the PS3 to date.
#3 – Dead Space 2
Isaac Clarke returned in a game that scared just about everyone who played it. Dead Space 2 was chockablock full of moments where you’d jump out of your skin from surprise alien attacks. The graphics were dark and gorgeous and the game oozed with horror. Shooting body parts off alien scum was fantastic and the upgrade system was brilliant. Everyone likes a challenging game and Dead Space 2 proved it was no walk in the park. I applaud anyone who didn’t at least once jump out of their skin throughout this game
#2 – Assassin’s Creed Revelations
Okay, so it’s not actually released yet, but c’mon it’s Assassin’s Creed! Due for release on the 15th of November 2011, Assassin’s Creed Revelations will see an Ezio in his 50’s trying to search for relics that then allow you to play as our favourite assassin Altair. As usual, the storyline looks awesome and the gameplay mechanics are vastly improved. Once more, multiplayer will be featured on the game. However, unlike it’s predecessor, multiplayer will come jam packed with a lot more to do than simply assassinate other players. There is even talk of a capture the flag mode appearing on the game – hooray! So, I ask, how can we leave Assassin’s Creed Revelations out of the list?
#1 – Batman Arkham City
Gotham’s Dark Knight swooped into action in October and with it came unique gameplay that would see Batman using stealth, impressive gadgetry and coming up against some well loved characters. If you’ve not yet played it, then I’m really not sure what you’re waiting for! It’s incredible and packed full of side quests to keep you entertained for hours on end. The mere fact that you can use DLC to play as Catwoman or Robin beefs the game up and easily throws it into this top 5.
